The slot measures 10.25 inches long and 5.5 inches deep, both perfectly respectable. Width was not published. On paper this belongs in the same conversation as the Magimix.
The measured performance does not follow. Time to medium toast is 2 min 58 sec, the slowest recorded in this dataset and more than double the Magimix. The shell gets hot, and slices have been observed leaving the slot with more force than intended.
The bagel function is the thing to know about before you use it. On most toasters bagel mode heats the inner element to crisp the cut face and eases off the outer one so the crust only warms. This model has been found to do it the other way round. If you load a bagel the way you would load it in any other machine, the wrong face gets the heat.
None of which stops it being the best-looking appliance here, and for a lot of buyers that is the actual brief. It is just worth being clear that you are paying for the enamel, not for the toasting.
